WHO WE ARE
Earl Porter, the impetus behind Project Something Outta Nothing (SON), is conducting a southbound (SoBo) through-hike of the Appalachian Trail during the winter of 2021-2022. This expedition is to honor the hardship some veterans face during their transition to civilian life after their service and/or the loss of teammates.
Earl is a servant leader leveraging his unique journey, broad community, and personal desire to raise awareness and support regarding veteran suicide by completing this difficult feat.
As a former ward of the state, Eagle Scout, Army Ranger Infantry Officer, and current attorney, Earl Porter III will be walking the Appalachian Trail between September 11, 2021, through February 22, 2022,
We are a project of Toughest Kids Initiative, a 501(c)3 organization whose charitable mission is to provide life experiences for children with adverse circumstances, disabilities, and other ailments.
